LResearch at the University of Guyana focuses on themes that respond to the major societal and environmental transitions. By tackling the challenges of biodiversity, health, social dynamics and innovative technologies, the university is building bridges between disciplines in order to propose solutions adapted to contemporary issues.
Mindful of the challenges raised by the sustainability sciences, the UG intends to promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to its main research themes in order to become a major player in research on four academic and societal priorities:
- The dynamics of biodiversity in Amazonia and the development of natural resources (from genes to ecosystems, in particular the biodiversity of agronomic, marine, coastal and fluvial forest ecosystems, sustainable food);
- Global health and health ecology in tropical environments
- The dynamics of Amazonian societies in their environments and the sustainable management of Amazonian territories;
- Innovative technologies in the Amazonian environment and bio-inspired technologies, sustainable construction;
