\u201d<\/span>ACAI Project: Raising Awareness and Providing Training in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity in the Amazonian Context <\/p>To make French Guiana a centre of excellence and influence in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/blockquote>\n

The University of French Guiana, a successful applicant in the \u2018Skills and Professions of the Future\u2019 (CMA) call for proposals, funded by the National Research Agency as part of the France 2030 initiative, launched the ACAI project \u2013 standing for Amazonian Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence \u2013 in 2026.
\nThrough its partnership with ACAI in French Guiana, the University aims to become a key player in training and raising awareness in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity in the Amazon region.
\nThe project is supported by a consortium comprising ACCYB, CNES, CLUSIR Guyane, MEDEF Guyane, Orange, French Tech Guyane, CCOG, Telespazio, CHU Guyane, CTG and the Regional Education Authority of French Guiana.
\nTogether, these partners are supporting the roll-out of a continuum of awareness-raising, training and research. The aim is to establish, for the first time in the region, a local and sustainable pool of skills to support French Guiana\u2019s digital development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>

A consortium united by a common goal<\/h3>\n

The project is led by the University of French Guiana. It brings together a consortium comprising stakeholders from higher education, research, institutions and the socio-economic sector.<\/p>\n

Caribbean Cybersecurity Agency (ACCYB) \u2022 National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) \u2022 Network Information Security Club (CLUSIR Guyane) \u2022 MEDEF French Guiana \u2022 Orange \u2022 French Tech French Guiana \u2022 Community of Communes of Western French Guiana (CCOG) \u2022 Telespazio \u2022 French Guiana University Hospital (CHU French Guiana) \u2022 Territorial Collectivity of French Guiana (CTG) \u2022 French Guiana Regional Education Authority.<\/p>\n

The project also enjoys the support of more than 30 organisations in the region: local authorities, businesses, voluntary organisations, and bodies involved in education and research.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>

<\/i>A strategic issue for the region<\/a><\/h3>

French Guiana faces a twofold vulnerability. On the one hand, the digital divide still affects part of the territory. On the other hand, local expertise remains insufficient in fields that have become strategic, notably artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

ACAI aims to address these challenges by bringing digital training, careers and applications closer to the people of French Guiana. This approach also extends to the most remote areas through coordinated initiatives across the whole territory.<\/p>\n

The project therefore aims to move beyond a approach of recruiting external expertise on an ad hoc basis. Instead, it seeks to encourage them to settle in French Guiana on a long-term basis.<\/p>\n

ACAI aims to enable the training of future generations, support businesses and local authorities, and gradually strengthen a French Guiana-based sector underpinned by higher education, research and innovation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Bridging the digital divide
\n<\/strong>To carry out initiatives on the ground that are as close as possible to schoolchildren, families and communities that are geographically or socially isolated.<\/p>\n

Boosting local employability<\/strong>
\nTo train people from French Guiana in AI and cybersecurity roles, and then to encourage their recruitment and retention in the region.<\/p>\n

Developing a comprehensive sector<\/strong>
\nTo establish a continuum ranging from awareness-raising to higher education, continuing professional development and doctoral studies.<\/p>\n

Enhancing the region\u2019s profile
\n<\/strong>To position the University of French Guiana as a leading centre of excellence linking Europe, the Amazon and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i>Part 1 \u2014 Raising awareness: reaching out to the public<\/a><\/h3>

Awareness-raising is the starting point of the ACAI programme. It aims to raise awareness of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and related careers amongst audiences who may still perceive these fields as distant or inaccessible.<\/p>\n

The initiatives are tailored to the knowledge and needs of the various target groups. They are designed to cover the whole of French Guiana.<\/p>\n
