Here's a look back at some of the key initiatives that have boosted university life.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<h3>Post-Bac orientation weeks: a gateway to higher education<\/h3>\n<p>As part of the Post-Bac Orientation Weeks, the University welcomed more than 250 secondary school students to its campus. These young people had the unique opportunity to :<br \/>\n- Take part in guidance courses and workshops,<br \/>\n- Find out about the courses offered by the University,<br \/>\n- Talking to teachers and students to better understand their academic future.<br \/>\nAt the same time, teams from the University travelled the length and breadth of the region, visiting more than a dozen secondary schools and meeting more than 1,000 students. These exchanges provided an opportunity to answer students' questions directly and to present the many opportunities offered by the University of French Guyana, with particular emphasis on the importance of education in the development of the region.<\/p>\n<h3>DUODAY: inclusion and professional discovery<\/h3>\n<p>On the occasion of the 7\u1d49 edition of DUODAY, organised as part of the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH), three students took part in an immersion in professional structures. Two of them joined the services of the Prefecture of French Guiana, while a third discovered the workings of a private company.<br \/>\nThis experience enabled the students to familiarise themselves with the world of work while benefiting from an inclusive and caring environment. Over and above the professional experience, the day helped to change the way people think about disability, underlining the importance of a professional environment that is open and accessible to all.<\/p>\n<h3>Student commitment: a lever for success and citizenship<\/h3>\n<p>The University of Guyana actively encourages its students to get involved through schemes such as civic service and student employment. In 2024 :<br \/>\n- <strong>10 civic service volunteers have been recruited<\/strong>. These young people have carried out a wide range of tasks, from raising awareness of health and education issues to organising cultural and sporting activities.<br \/>\n- <strong>62 student employees<\/strong> have contributed to the day-to-day running of the University, whether in welcoming students, providing teaching assistance or organising events.<br \/>\nThese complementary programmes enable students to develop professional skills while taking an active part in university life. They also strengthen their sense of belonging to the university community and give them the tools they need to enter the professional world.<\/p>\n<p>These actions demonstrate the University of Guyana's commitment to its students and their success.
