Teachers, researchers, managers and student ambassadors are all there to speak on behalf of the region. Their aim: to contribute to international discussions, defend Amazonian issues and promote local solutions to climate change. This article looks back at the key moments of this first week and the UG's strategic role in this global event.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<h3 data-start=\"205\" data-end=\"248\">A committed delegation at the heart of COP 30<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"250\" data-end=\"624\">The University of Guyana's participation in COP 30 demonstrates its total commitment to tackling climate issues. Since the opening of the event, the delegation led by President Laurent LINGUET, accompanied by Didier BEREAU and Mabiane BATISTA FRANCA, has been making numerous contributions. It brings together a wide range of profiles to represent all the strengths of the school.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"626\" data-end=\"669\"><strong>A rich, multidisciplinary composition<br \/>\n<\/strong>Teachers, researchers, technical and administrative staff and student ambassadors are all involved in the work. This diversity strengthens the UG's impact. It also makes it possible to address scientific, political and societal issues.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"973\"><strong>Active participation in sessions and discussions<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the first week, the delegation took part in a number of key events. It attended plenary sessions, round tables and bilateral meetings. It also took part in science and society dialogues. Thanks to these exchanges, the delegation is highlighting the specific characteristics of French Guiana and defending an international agenda that is more attentive to the realities of the Amazon.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1404\">A key context for Amazonia and French Guiana<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1406\" data-end=\"1432\"><strong>An area already affected<\/strong><br \/>\nFrench Guiana is already suffering the effects of climate change. Rising sea levels, extreme events and the weakening of ecosystems are having a direct impact on the local population. These impacts reinforce the need for rapid action. They also justify the active presence of the UG in Bel\u00e9m.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1715\" data-end=\"1762\"><strong>Unique potential to offer solutions<br \/>\n<\/strong>French Guiana has exceptional forest cover and remarkable biodiversity. These assets provide an ideal breeding ground for developing adaptation and mitigation solutions. Ancestral knowledge complements the scientific research conducted at the UG. Together, they pave the way for innovative and often bio-inspired approaches.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2117\" data-end=\"2166\">A responsible, forward-looking presence<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2205\"><strong>Promoting research work<\/strong><br \/>\nThe University of Guyana is presenting its research programmes on climate, biodiversity and ecological transitions at COP 30. This visibility reinforces the region's recognition on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2430\" data-end=\"2477\"><strong>Dialogue with local and indigenous stakeholders<\/strong><br \/>\nThe UG has regular discussions with local and indigenous communities. These discussions feed into its work. They also encourage a clear dialogue between science, society and politics.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2671\" data-end=\"2713\"><strong>Developing strategic partnerships<\/strong><br \/>\nCOP 30 is a unique opportunity to strengthen scientific and institutional partnerships. These cooperative ventures support ambitious and essential projects for the years to come.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2912\" data-end=\"2950\"><strong>Transition-oriented training<\/strong><br \/>\nThe presence of the UG is also a reminder of its commitment to young people. It trains future generations in ecological, social and economic transformations.
