Despite its unspoilt natural environment, the region is exposed to a number of phenomena that affect the air we breathe on a daily basis. These include sand mists from the Sahara, slash-and-burn practices and certain local human activities.<\/p>\n<p>Faced with these realities, the University of Guyana is actively involved. From 1 April, it will be taking part in a major public survey entitled \u00abWhat do I know about air quality? The aim of this initiative is to gain a better understanding of the perceptions of campus residents and users.<\/p>\n<h3>The role of the Regional Environmental Health Plan (PRSE)<\/h3>\n<p>The Regional Health and Environment Plan for French Guiana is an essential roadmap. It coordinates the actions of the State, local authorities and local players to limit the impact of the environment on health.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, air quality in French Guyana is a priority. The authorities want to adapt public policies to local realities. To do this, they need concrete data from the field.<\/p>\n<h3>A survey focused on how people feel<\/h3>\n<p>Unlike a traditional scientific study, this survey does not test knowledge. It focuses on how participants feel about air quality in French Guiana.<\/p>\n<p>The responses will enable us to identify perceptions, concerns and habits. This information is invaluable in creating appropriate and effective awareness-raising tools.<\/p>\n<h3>Participation open to the entire university community<\/h3>\n<p>The University of Guyana is mobilising its entire community. Students, teachers, researchers and administrative staff are invited to take part.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you live in Cayenne, Kourou or Saint-Laurent du Maroni, your contribution counts. Every response adds to our overall understanding of air quality issues in French Guiana.<\/p>\n<h3>How can I take part in the survey?<\/h3>\n<p>The survey is open from 1 to 30 April. It is completely anonymous and quick to complete.
