This initiative responds to growing demand in the field of physical education and sport, offering students training dedicated to the teaching of physical, sporting and expressive activities in a variety of educational contexts.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<article id=\"post-16581\" class=\"post-16581 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail category-news-formation\">\n<div class=\"inner-wrap\">\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-hide-featured-media=\"0\">\n<div class=\"content-inner\">\n<div id=\"fws_65d51c754e4e4\" class=\"wpb_row vc_row-fluid vc_row\" data-column-margin=\"default\" data-midnight=\"dark\">\n<div class=\"row_col_wrap_12 col span_12 dark left\">\n<div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column column_container vc_column_container col no-extra-padding inherit_tablet inherit_phone\" data-padding-pos=\"all\" data-has-bg-color=\"false\" data-bg-color=\"\" data-bg-opacity=\"1\" data-animation=\"\" data-delay=\"0\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div id=\"lipsum\">\n<span class=\"nectar-dropcap\" >C <\/span>his degree, developed in close collaboration with the Rectorat and the Collectivit\u00e9 Territoriale de Guyane, reflects the University's strong commitment to education, public health and local development. It aims to equip future graduates with the skills they need to excel in the professions of training, coaching and physical and mental preparation.<\/p>\n<h3>Versatile training<\/h3>\n<p>The new STAPS degree is distinguished by its multi-purpose orientation, preparing students for immediate careers while opening up prospects for advanced study. Graduates will be able to go on to study for a Masters in Teaching, Education and Training (MEEF) or a STAPS Masters, considerably broadening their professional horizons.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the support of the Collectivit\u00e9 Territoriale de Guyane and the city of Cayenne, facilities located less than 1 km from the Universit\u00e9 de Guyane will be made available to undergraduate students. This proximity will facilitate access to the facilities required for their training.<\/p>\n<h3>Training needed to meet the region's needs<\/h3>\n<p>Initial forecasts anticipate an influx of around forty students for the first year (L1) of this course, due to the growing demand for STAPS studies in general. For subsequent years, the number of students is estimated at 30 for Licence 2 (L2) and 28 for Licence 3 (L3).<\/p>\n<p>The creation of this STAPS degree is also a significant opportunity for young people in the region to pursue higher education without having to travel to Guadeloupe (1600 km) or France (7500 km). Between 2018 and 2023, 252 final-year students in French Guiana chose this route, according to data from Parcours sup Guyane.<\/p>\n<p>The STAPS degree will provide essential skills to meet the needs of the Acad\u00e9mie in terms of teaching physical education and sport (EPS). Currently, there are almost 80 vacancies for PE teachers in the Acad\u00e9mie, which is hampering the teaching of this discipline in coll\u00e8ges and lyc\u00e9es. The bachelor's degree offers an opportunity to fill these gaps by training qualified professionals, thereby helping to strengthen education in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The opening of the STAPS degree at the University of Guyana therefore represents a significant step towards strengthening physical education and sport in the region, offering educational and professional opportunities to students while
