Fruitful collaborations also took place at McGill University and Oxford University, enriching the international scope of his thesis.<\/p>\n<p>Its research, focusing on the management of Soci\u00e9t\u00e9s Civiles de Placement Immobilier (SCPIs) in the face of environmental challenges, takes on particular importance at a time when the European Union has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Buildings, which are responsible for 40 % of the EU's energy consumption and 36 % of its CO2 emissions, are at the heart of climate concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Tously's thesis identifies the regulatory and financial gaps hindering environmental action by SCPIs and proposes theoretical and practical solutions to overcome these difficulties. At a time when the European Commission is stressing the need to speed up emissions reductions, SCPIs, as collective investment vehicles, can play a crucial role in the sustainable management of their buildings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Innovating for a sustainable future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alongside his academic work, Jean-Tously is the Founder and Managing Director of DEXSO, a Young University Enterprise (JEU) housed at Guyane D\u00e9veloppement Innovation. DEXSO, which specialises in wealth management, banking and insurance brokerage, and property transactions, stands out for its commitment to academic research. In partnership with the University of Guyana, DEXSO is working to offer innovative solutions in its areas of activity.<\/p>\n<p>The company is fully aware of the environmental issues at stake, and invests fully in research and innovation to help public and private players anticipate the risks associated with their activities, thereby contributing to the ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
