The Haitian diaspora has been the subject of numerous scientific studies since the end of the twentieth century. However, after the 2010 earthquake, migration routes changed and migration to South America increased.<\/p>\n<p class=\"justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11061 alignright jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230717234703im_\/https:\/\/www.univ-guyane.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/couverture-sistema-migratorio-haitiano-universite-de-guyane-246x300.jpg\" alt=\"couverture livre &quot;Syst\u00e8me de migration ha\u00eftien en Am\u00e9rique du sud&quot;.\" width=\"246\" height=\"300\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/>Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile became major destinations, while migration to the Guyana Plateau, and French Guyana in particular, as well as Surinam and Guyana, was renewed. It was therefore time to take stock of current knowledge about the history and dynamics of Haitian migration to South America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"justify\">To compile the book, the coordinators, Handerson Joseph and C\u00e9dric Audebert, brought together a group of researchers working on Haitian migration in different countries, in order to gain a better understanding of the new migration routes, the way in which migrants' projects are affected by the public policies of the host countries, and the trajectories and experiences of the men, women and children who move and settle, contributing to the cultural diversity of South American societies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"justify\">This exceptional session of the 'Frontiers' seminar will bring together several of the book's contributors and its coordinators to present the book and open the discussion on the dynamics of the Haitian diaspora in South America.<br \/>\nAfter a presentation of the book by C\u00e9dric Audebert, Handerson Joseph will explore the question of the Haitian diaspora in the Guyana Plateau. Wilmont Jean and Marianne Palisse will present their article on 'papers' and asylum in French Guiana. Finally, Carlos Nieto will look at the routes and networks of Haitian migrants in Peru.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element vc_custom_1675257446411\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h4><strong>A few words about the speakers<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>C\u00e9dric Audebert<\/strong><br \/>\nGeographer, Director of Research at the CNRS, Laboratoire Carib\u00e9en de Sciences Sociales, Martinique<\/p>\n<p><strong>Handerson Joseph<\/strong><br \/>\nAnthropologist, Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wilmont Jean<\/strong><br \/>\nHolder of a Master's degree in Civilisations, Cultures and Societies, Societies and Interculturality.
