Onder leiding van M\u00f3nika Krajcsoszki zal deze presentatie de fascinerende facetten van deze weinig onderzochte periode belichten. Afspraak op woensdag <strong>10 april 2024 om 18.00 uur.<\/strong> in de Salle Lo\u00efc Daniel (F212) van de DFR LSH (B\u00e2t. F) van de UG (Troubiran). Na de sluiting van de strafkolonie in de jaren 1940 werd Frans-Guyana geconfronteerd met een tekort aan arbeidskrachten. Het doel van de nieuwe politieke leiding na de departementalisering was het bevorderen van de economische en sociale ontwikkeling, waarvoor demografische groei essentieel was en immigratie op de een of andere manier moest worden aangemoedigd. Als onderdeel van deze inspanning richtte de Franse regering haar aandacht op ontheemden uit Oost-Europa en op 21 april 1949 werd een speciale regeling ondertekend met de Internationale Vluchtelingenorganisatie (IRO).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Het voorzag in de immigratie van honderd vluchtelingengezinnen naar Frans-Guyana. De werving vond voornamelijk plaats in de Franse bezettingszone in Duitsland.  Het eerste konvooi arriveerde in juli 1949 in Frans-Guyana. Andere volgden tot medio 1951. Het doel was een nieuw centrum op te zetten op basis van de bestaande infrastructuur van de gesloten strafkolonie Saint-Jean. In totaal arriveerden er 207 immigranten: 78 mannen, 68 vrouwen en 61 kinderen. De meerderheid bestond uit Hongaren en Polen, maar er waren ook Tsjechen, Roemenen, een Griek, een Let en twee staatlozen. De organisatie die verantwoordelijk was voor dit project, BIPIG (Bureau d'Installation des Personnes Immigr\u00e9es en Guyane), werd pas in februari 1950 opgericht. Het lijkt erop dat veel mensen het centrum Saint-Jean vrij snel verlieten. Het BIPIG werd in 1958 opgeheven.  Door de verzamelde archieven te controleren en bij te werken, staan er al 56 Hongaren bij naam vermeld onder de ontheemden. Hoe kunnen we hun levens reconstrueren zodat we begrijpen wat ze hebben meegemaakt? Waarom zijn deze Hongaren hun naoorlogse land ontvlucht? Was Frans-Guyana slechts een tussenstop op weg naar andere bestemmingen? Wat waren de redenen voor de snelle mislukking van dit vestigingsprogramma?
