Support throughout your career
Le Student Support and Life Centre (PAVE) and the Guidance, Internships and Professional Integration Department (DOSIP) are on hand to guide you through your university career. Our advisers will provide you with information about the different courses available, help you narrow down your choices and guide you towards courses that match your aspirations. You can also make an appointment for personalised guidance, either online or at the one-stop shop.
Reorientation and gateways: a new start is possible
If, during the course of your studies, you feel that the course you have chosen is not right for you, don't worry! The University of Guyana offers you several options for adjusting your study plan:
- Reorientation You can consider changing your course of study at the end of the first semester or at the end of the academic year, depending on your results and motivation.
- Gateways between courses : Some courses offer gateways that allow you to change course without losing the credits obtained (ECTS).
- Césure If you want to take a break to gain new experience before continuing your studies, taking a gap year is another option.

How can I benefit from support?
- First orientation : When you register, make an appointment with an advisor so that you can benefit from support right from the start.
- Reorientation in the first semester If you realise that your choice of course does not meet your expectations, you can ask for a change of direction by contacting the guidance department.
- Reorientation at the end of the year : At the end of each academic year, you have the opportunity to reorientate your course, depending on your academic record and the places available in the targeted courses.
