L he primary role of libraries is to accompany and support teaching and research activities. More important than ever in this world of digital information, they identify, acquire and make accessible the documentary resources that are essential to students and researchers. They are also responsible for providing training in the use of documentary resources. As guardians of the institution's memory and documentary heritage, they play a central role in the social and cultural life of a university: the university library is not only a place for work, study and research, but also for socialising.
