Ptaying abroad for study, research or a work placement offers many advantages: cultural enrichment, improved language skills, adaptation and professional opportunities. The International Relations Office (BRI) and the international advisers are there to help you.

How do I apply to go abroad?

If you dream of going abroad as part of your studies, here are the essential steps:

  1. Explore our destinations To find out which options are best suited to your academic ambitions, take a look at the options available.
  2. Attend the half-yearly information meetings These sessions will guide you through the process.
  3. Contact your international contact Present your project and get advice tailored to your needs.
  4. Complete your application form Include the required documents, such as your CV, covering letter and transcripts.
  5. Interviews and appraisals After pre-selection by the Bureau des Relations Internationales (BRI), an interview will assess your motivation and language skills.

Going abroad with Erasmus+

Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, the Université de Guyane (UG) offers students the opportunity to study at a European university for 1 or 2 semesters.

Conditions of eligibility :

  • Be registered with the UG.
  • Must have completed at least 60 ECTS credits.
  • Proof of a B1 level in the language of instruction at the host university.
  • Submit a full application.

Timetable :

  • Submission of applications Before 1st April for the 1st semester, or before 1st October for the 2nd semester.
  • Preparation Signing of the Grant Agreement, OLS language test and preparation of the Learning Agreement.
  • Mobility administrative management and any changes to on-site courses.
  • Post-mobility validation of documents, second OLS test and drafting of an Erasmus+ report.

💡 Tip To maximise your chances, plan your project at least a year in advance.

Studying outside Europe: other opportunities to go abroad

The University of Guyana also offers partnerships with international universities outside Europe.

  • Eligibility conditions and timetable Erasmus+: similar to Erasmus+, with deadlines of 15th March for the 1st half and 15 September for the 2nd half-year.

Support for students with disabilities

Specific funding is available to facilitate the mobility of students with disabilities. This support may include adapted accommodation solutions, material aid, etc. It is advisable to contact BRI at least 6 weeks before your departure to anticipate your needs.

Going abroad as a staff member of the Université de Guyane (UG)

In an increasingly globalised university environment, going abroad is becoming a key opportunity for staff at the University of Guyana (UG). Whether you are a teacher or a member of administrative staff, going abroad enables you to develop new skills, broaden your professional horizons and enrich your day-to-day practice.

The UG actively supports these international experiments through an ambitious cooperation policy, with partners in Europe, North and South America and Africa.

Who can go abroad?

International mobility is open to both permanent and contract teaching and administrative staff.

Erasmus+ mobility

For teachers:
Teachers can go on STA (Staff Teaching Assignment) placements to teach courses at a partner university in Europe.

  • Minimum of 8 hours of lessons in the local language or in English.
  • Possibility of combining training and teaching (minimum 4 hours of teaching).

For administrative staff :
Administrative staff can take part in STT (Staff Training Mobility) via Staff Week.
Mobility offers are available on the iMotion platform. An application validated by the UG is eligible for an Erasmus+ grant.

Special features:

  • Conferences are not eligible for this type of mobility.
  • Specific funds are available for staff with disabilities (accommodation, support, equipment, etc.).

Mobility outside Europe

The University of Guyana also offers mobility opportunities outside Europe for training, teaching and networking purposes.
The project must be approved by the component concerned and coordinated with the International Relations Office (BRI).

The grant is only a financial SUPPLEMENT. It is up to you to prepare financially for your mobility (savings, student jobs, etc.).

The stock exchange AMI (Aide à la Mobilité Internationale)) is financial aid awarded to students on a grant who are doing part of their studies or a work placement abroad as part of programmes such as Erasmus+. This means-tested grant can be combined with other grants such as those available under the Erasmus programme. Students enrolled at an eligible higher education institution are eligible to apply. They must receive a grant based on social criteria or be in a similar situation.
