Lhe University of French Guyana is strongly committed to ensuring that health and the well-being of its students. Our actions focus on prevention, psychological support, access to healthcare and the promotion of a balanced lifestyle. Our aim is to ensure a healthy and fulfilling environment, conducive to academic success and personal development.

Access to healthcare

Our Student Health Service is dedicated to the physical and mental health of students. You will be welcomed by the service nurse, Ms Dominique FORIER, and will be able to benefit from :

  • Medical consultations on request.
  • The department promotes the integration of students with disabilities by offering them accommodation for their studies.
  •  Consultation with a midwife (contraception, contraception renewal, sexual health advice).
  • Vision screening (carried out by a qualified optician).
  • Nutritional advice from a qualified dietician.
  • Sophrology treatment for stress management and mental health well-being.
  • Psychological support: consultations with a psychologist to meet students' needs in terms of mental well-being. This service is confidential and free of charge.
  • Prevention: Regular prevention initiatives on topics such as addiction, STI screening, stress management and nutrition. The service also offers Level 1 First Aid training (PSC1).

Psychological support

The university offers psychological consultations free of charge for any student experiencing emotional difficulties or stress. This service is available quickly and without judgement, with the aim of helping you get through the difficult times and succeed in your studies in the best possible conditions.

Consultations are held every Friday morning by appointment. Appointments can be made with the nurse by email: dominique.forier@univ-guyane.fr

Physical activities and well-being

Because physical activity is part of a healthy lifestyle, the University of Guyana offers a wide range of sporting activities:

  • Access to modern sports facilities (gymnasiums, sports fields).
  • Relaxation activities such as yoga or meditation, to help you relax, get a good night's sleep and reduce study-related stress.
  • Events such as wellness days and introductory sessions to local and traditional sports.

Prevention and health promotion

Throughout the year, we organise campaigns to promote prevention and awareness-raising workshops on a variety of subjects: nutrition, sleep, mental health and risk prevention. These initiatives are run by health professionals or partner associations, and aim to give students the keys to better managing their day-to-day well-being.

Life balance

To improvebalance between academic and personal lifeThe university offers flexible course timetables for students who are employed or involved in parallel projects. In addition work and relaxation areas are available on campus to allow students to relax between courses and manage their timetable more effectively.
