Objectives
Acquisition of fundamental knowledge in the field of medicine covering the following areas: embryology, histology, anatomo-pathology, imaging, physiology, semiology, pharmacology and covering the fields of cardiology, pneumology, gastro-enterology, uro-nephrology, orthopaedics-traumatology, horminology-reproductive system, nutrition, dermatology, infectious diseases, immunology, neuro-psychiatry.
Target skills
Know how the organs of the human body function normally and the pathological signs associated with illnesses. Know how to carry out a clinical examination, propose diagnostic hypotheses and suggest complementary examinations appropriate to the situation.

Recruitment level : Bac+1
Accessible in : Initial training.
Training required :PASS or LAS validated
Conditions admission : At the end of the written and/or oral examinations, PASS and LAS students must be admitted to the medical stream.

Number of hours for 1 student
Seven hours/day (full-time), 5 days/week, for 7 weeks, i.e. 245 hours.
During these full-time placements, students must be present on the placement site for 7 hours from Monday to Friday inclusive. A placement day starts between 8am and 9am, at the convenience of the head of department or head of unit.

The host departments are located at the hospitals in Cayenne. Internships at the Kourou and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni hospitals are possible on request, in a department that is approved for interns.
At least one placement in a "gynaecology-obstetrics", "medicine", "paediatrics", and "emergency, intensive care, continuous care, resuscitation" department is compulsory during the two years of the DFGSM (and "surgery" depending on availability). However, students may not do more than one placement in gynaecology-obstetrics or paediatrics.
