Objectives
- To teach the basics of emergency medicine needed to deal with all types of out-of-hospital emergencies. These include all medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric emergencies.
- This University Diploma aims to provide the theoretical and technical foundations required for the initial management of life-threatening emergencies (basic level).
Target skills
- Acquiring the basics of diagnostic reasoning in emergency situations.
- Mastering the therapeutic arsenal needed to manage life-threatening emergencies outside hospital structures.
- Learn the basic technical procedures involved in practising emergency medicine
- Develop skills in ultrasound and the use of telemedicine tools
Admission
Access to the DU
This course is aimed at doctors in all specialities except emergency and intensive care medicine, and state-qualified nurses.
Admission requirements
Admission is based on an application including a CV, qualifications and a covering letter explaining the applicant's career plan. A selection committee will decide on all applications, with equal numbers of medical and non-medical candidates. The number of places per academic year is set at 30 for students following the course in French Guyana, unless an exemption is granted. The number of places per academic year is set at 30 for students following the delocalised course at the University of Medicine in Jakarta, Indonesia, unless an exemption is granted.
