Once again this year, the University of Guyana is celebrating the start of the new academic year in a dynamic and unifying atmosphere.
Under the authority of its President, Laurent Linguet, more than a thousand new students have entered the doors of the Troubiran campus, ready to begin a new year of success, support and openness to a region with almost 4,500 students. Thanks to the support of the 350 members of staff and the six research units, seven components and institutes that make up the UG, this new academic year promises to be rich and structured.
The Pôle d'accompagnement de la vie étudiante de l'Université organised this event to offer students a first contact with their university environment in a friendly atmosphere. The day's activities included information stands, personal coaching, health and well-being workshops and meetings with teaching and administrative staff.
The aim was clear: to facilitate the integration of new arrivals and strengthen their sense of belonging to the university community.
The success of this integration day is also due to the commitment of all the partners and players in student life present in the student village. This collaborative spirit reflects the University of Guyana's desire to work hand in hand with local players to provide the best possible environment for all its students.
For President Laurent Linguet and his administrative and teaching teams, the start of the new academic year is a key moment: it embodies the vitality of a fast-growing institution, attentive to the needs of its young people and keen to promote the cultural and social wealth of the region. The University of Guyana has thus confirmed its central position in the regional academic landscape, offering not only a wide range of high-quality courses, but also a living environment that is conducive to success and the achievement of degrees, as well as personal fulfilment and development, in a framework that continues to promote equal opportunities for all.
The start of the 2025 academic year therefore marks the beginning of a promising year, in which commitment, solidarity and ambition will guide the talents of our university community towards new successes.
