From 19 to 20 September 2025, the Université de Guyane took part in the Salon des Maires at the PROGT in Matoury. This event brought together elected representatives, institutions, businesses and citizens to discuss local development issues. The university presented its flagship projects, affirming its central role in innovation, research and training in French Guiana. It was a great opportunity to meet people, forge partnerships and raise the profile of the region.
A strategic presence at the heart of the region
The Université de Guyane played an active role in the Salon des Maires 2025, organised at the PROGT in Matoury. Through its various components, it highlighted its missions, its structuring projects and its territorial roots. This participation is part of a clear commitment to meeting the specific needs of the region, while at the same time raising its profile at regional and national level.
Over two days packed with discussions, visitors met the university's teams. They were able to discover two emblematic initiatives:
- AIBSI - Amazonian Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainable Innovation
- ADUG - Accelerating the development of the University of Guyana
These projects illustrate the school's commitment to research, sustainable innovation and high-level training.
An attractive stand and strong attendance
The university's stand welcomed several hundred visitors, attracted by the range of courses, streams and research programmes on offer. The varied, cross-generational audience showed a genuine interest in the university's activities.
The large turnout is a testament to the university's role in shaping Guyanese society, and its ability to unite people around a shared vision of development.
An agreement for the future with La Brique Rouge
On Saturday 20 September, the event was marked by the signing of a partnership agreement with La Brique Rouge. This agreement is the concrete expression of a collaboration based on joint projects to promote local development. It reflects a shared desire to co-construct solutions tailored to the local area.
Fruitful discussions with key players
The exhibition was also a great opportunity for exchanges between the University of French Guyana and the various audiences present: elected representatives, members of the university community, companies, students and other visitors.
These exchanges have strengthened existing relationships and opened up new opportunities for collaboration.
A committed and visible university
The University of Guyana's participation in the Salon des Maires 2025 confirms its role as a driving force in regional development. Between innovative projects, institutional meetings and strategic partnerships, the university is asserting its desire to build a stronger, more connected and more sustainable French Guiana.
