What is the role of the Board of Directors?
The Board of Directors is the central body responsible for determining the general school policy:
- Establishment contract
- Budget and accounts
- Agreements and conventions signed by the Chairman
- Articles of association and internal rules
- Breakdown of jobs
- Approval of the annual activity report and social balance sheet
What is the role of the Academic Council?
The Cac, established in accordance with the decree creating the University, is the central council responsible for the main issues relating to the organisation of teaching. The Academic Council has plenary decision-making and advisory powers.
These decision-making powers cover the following points:
- Training resources
- Examination rules ;
- Rules for evaluating courses ;
- Success, guidance and integration into working life
- Cultural, sporting, social and community activities for students,
- Living and working conditions, in particular measures relating to support activities, university and school facilities, medical and social services, libraries, etc.
- Initiatives for interaction between science and society, initiated and run by students or teacher-researchers,
- Students with a disability or disabling health condition,
These advisory powers cover the following areas:
- Training policies,
- Research policies,
- Disseminating scientific, technical and industrial culture,
- Scientific and technical documentation,
- Qualification to be given to teaching and research posts that are vacant or in demand,
- Application for accreditation and establishment contract.
It has two sections:
- The section responsible for examining individual questions relating to the recruitment, assignment and career of teacher-researchers.
- The disciplinary section
Who are the voters?
All students at the University are called to vote and are automatically registered (see the lists posted in the various departments).

2 permanent seats are to be filled.
NB: In correlation, 2 substitute seats are also to be filled. Lists may therefore present up to 4 names but may be incomplete.
Academic Council
6 full seats are to be filled.
NB: In correlation, 6 substitute seats are also to be filled. Lists may therefore present up to 12 names but may be incomplete.
Procedure
Application :
Nominations are submitted in the form of a joint list. All students may stand. There is no obligation to join a trade union. Please fill in the annexes to the by-laws provided for this purpose and return them to the contacts listed below before 9 December, 12 noon.
Ballot :
The elections take place on 16 December 2016 from 9am to 5pm.

- on the IUT campus in Kourou - Bois Chaudat
- on the University's premises in Saint Laurent du Maroni
- on presentation of a student card.
