Focus on the Department of Student Affairs, Research and Life, also known as the DSRVE. The DSRVE is the department on the front line with students. It has a wide range of responsibilities, including education, university life, examinations, international relations and research.

What does the DSRVE do?
The missions of the DSRVE are very diverse and divided into themes. Each theme corresponds to a division.
Scholarship
The tasks of the Central Registrar's Office are to provide a regulatory, technical and functional watch on registrar matters; to coordinate the component Registrars' Offices, and in particular to provide a cross-functional framework for admissions, enrolment and results management operations; ensure cross-functional management of the organisation of examinations and the awarding of diplomas; participate in all projects relating to the organisation of studies; provide expertise and advice to teachers and governance; ensure functional management of the APOGEE application; participate in and implement interconnections between the institution's various management applications.
International Relations
The International Relations Office (BRI) is responsible for implementing the institution's international policy in the field of teaching and research. It welcomes foreign students, teachers and researchers and provides information to Guyanese students, teachers and researchers who wish to study abroad. Each component has an 'International Relations' representative, who is responsible for monitoring the mobility of international students on exchange programmes.

The partnerships and project development unit is a one-stop shop for project development, negotiation and management. As part of its remit, it provides targeted monitoring of European funding programmes, support in setting up research projects and monitoring projects funded by European or international programmes.
Student life
The BVE is the latest addition! It was created in 2018. Its mission (thanks to the funds collected via the CVEC in particular) will be to develop actions to offer students a quality of life throughout their course. The themes will be general welcome, support and guidance, preventive medicine, support for student projects, social and material aid, student employment, sport, etc.
What is the DSRVE's policy? What are its objectives?
The DSRVE's role is to implement the Presidency's strategic choices in operational terms. It also contributes its expertise and provides the indicators and assessments required for steering purposes. It oversees cross-functional projects relating to its area of responsibility.
The objectives for 2019 are numerous, but can be summarised as follows:
- Raise awareness of the DSRVE's missions and work;
- Promote best practice by introducing written procedures;
- Develop close links with the components, in an advisory and support role.
Would you describe yourselves as a service dedicated to users?
Of course. The DSRVE brings together all the services relating to students. It is responsible for the operational implementation and management of education and university life, from informing future baccalaureate holders at their lycée through to graduation.
What projects do you have coming up in the longer term?
With the creation of the BVE, the projects mainly concern student life. Ultimately, it should act as an interface between students and the University, and as a focal point for the institution's student associations. The head of the BVE is still being recruited.
