Despite the health crisis, the 2nd edition of the inter-IUT photo competition, with the IUTs of Thionville-Yutz, Kourou and, for the first time, Mulhouse, was able to go ahead.
The aim of the competition is to help IUT students develop a creative approach to a theme at the heart of contemporary social issues: the relationship between humans and their environment. After "repairing nature", the theme of the 2019 edition, our students this year worked on "Man's imprint on nature".
14 photos were submitted by students from the 3 IUTs mentioned above. The jury was made up of 9 members, including 3 well-known amateur photographers (Annick GAULTIER see his work here Frédéric HURST see his work here Audrey DAHAN instagram page and facebook page ).
The criteria used were the originality of the proposal, technical skill, aesthetic and creative qualities, visual impact and consistency with the theme.
The work of Nelly Magloire, a student in her 2nd year of the Marketing Techniques DUT at the IUT in Kourou - Troubiran Campus, University of French Guiana, won the jury's vote. The photograph, entitled "Le poumon de la nature", was taken post-confinement on the Montabo trail in Cayenne (97300, French Guiana).
Rafaëlle Hondermarck from IUT Mulhouse and Dillcia Dellevi from IUT Kourou came second and third respectively.
Congratulations to the three winners, who have been awarded a €150 voucher for 1st prize, a €100 voucher for 2nd prize and a €50 voucher for 3rd prize. In addition, the Espace Culturel at the Leclerc Hauconcourt centre will be offering each of the winners a print of their photo. As the IUTs will be closed to the public until 1 September, an official prize-giving ceremony will be organised by videoconference at each site during the Fête de la Science, which will take place from 6 to 10 November in the French overseas departments (date and time to be announced). The theme of the 2020 Fête de la Science, "What is the relationship between Man and Nature? directly echoes the question we have been asking our students for the past two years through this competition.
