Knowing how to express themselves and how to write are essential skills for doctoral students and medical interns. However, writing a thesis, dissertation or article is often laborious not only for students but also, admittedly, for many researchers and teaching researchers. 2022 sessions: from 15 to 18 February and from 31 May to 3 June.
O hen it comes to communicating your results, convincing people, obtaining funding or advancing your career, knowing how to write is vital... Writing is often seen as a chore. However, when you have finally captured the essential ideas and managed to organise them clearly on a document, it is a source of great satisfaction. This seminar is designed to give you the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of writing, and to practise in the presence of teachers who can guide you in improving your prose. Who can take part: Interns, doctoral students, teacher-researchers, researchers, doctors, etc. To get the most out of the seminar, you should follow the recommendations below:
- You must have specific objectives to achieve during the seminar (writing an article, a protocol, a funding application, etc.).
- do some preliminary work (prepare your results, bibliography... you'll write faster if everything is already organised)
- select 5 key articles from your bibliography to bring with you to the seminar
- Bring your laptop, a charger and the software you'll need (word processing, Zotero, graphics software, etc.).
The seminar will be held behind closed doors so that you can immerse yourself in the task in hand and not lose focus. Block out the 4 days! After a plenary session reminding you of the basics, you will be asked to write different sections, and you will be read over by people with extensive experience of scientific writing, reviewing and editing. This will show you the importance of revising an article. If you are aiming for a career as a researcher or teacher-researcher, writing and reviewing scientific texts will be at the heart of your profession, so it is important to have a solid grounding. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the subject. You learn by doing, so what you get out of the seminar will also depend on you. The aim will be to finalise an article, a protocol or an application for funding. There may be more applicants than we can accommodate, so you will need to send a covering letter explaining the context in which you are taking this course, your objectives and any difficulties you may be experiencing. This letter will enable us to select the participants - which will not necessarily be easy...
Applications. If you are not selected, please note that there will be 4 seminars per year, so there will be other opportunities. For further information, please contact scolarit-sante@univ-guyane.fr
