On 17 February 2025, the University of French Guyana's Medical and Health Sciences UFR welcomed high school students from Balata for an immersive morning. The aim was to give them an insight into training and careers in the health sector, and to awaken their interest. A rewarding initiative to help them prepare for the future!
At this meeting, the high school students received a detailed presentation of the Specific Health Access Pathway (PASS) and the Health Access Licence (LAS), as well as the MMOPK professions (Medicine, Maieutics, Odontology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy). They also explored the UFR's digital teaching platforms, essential tools for the success of health students.
One of the highlights of the morning was the interactive exchange via the Wooclap application, which enabled the students to put their questions directly to the students and UFR managers. This enriching dialogue provided concrete answers and enlightened the students about the realities of medical studies.
The immersion was very well received by the participants, who left with a better understanding of the possible career paths and expectations of health studies. The UFR SMS is thus reaffirming its commitment to promoting medical courses and training the professionals of tomorrow, to meet Guyana's health needs. This is a decisive experience for the students, who can now look forward to a clearer and more ambitious future.
