From 3 to 13 October 2025, the Fête de la Science, a major national event in science outreach, will be held throughout French Guiana. For its 34th edition, the theme will be «Intelligence(s)».

This theme, which is essential in French Guiana, promotes biodiversity, cultural diversity and traditional knowledge, while integrating scientific research to rethink our relationship with life, knowledge, technology and the land.

For the 14th year running, the Canopée des Sciences, Guyana's centre for scientific, technical and industrial culture (CCSTI), is coordinating the regional programme with the participation of a number of structures involved in scientific culture.

To mark the occasion, the Université de Guyane once again hosted two major events on its campus: the inaugural lecture series on Friday 3 October, followed by the Science Village on Saturday 4 October.

The Science Village was an event not to be missed. Designed to bring young and old together, it encouraged the transmission of knowledge, the popularisation of science and the exchange of ideas. Over a hundred people attended the event.

The University of Guyana took part in the event with a number of stands, some of which were manned by the students themselves.

Visitors could discover :

  • La UG Foundation, which presented Lemag’ June 2025 edition entitled «22 innovations for our region», This year's edition of the "Living in France" competition will showcase 22 innovative local projects in the fields of housing, health and food.

The students helped to showcase this project and discussed it with the public at the Science Village.
  • Le TBIP Laboratory, This year's "Parasites" exhibition featured a stand on the world of parasites and the laboratory's research themes, with scientific posters, laboratory tours, microscope observations and educational games for all ages.

This event was marked by the presence of many visitors who came to discover the Science Village, placed this year under the national theme «Intelligences». We would like to thank all the exhibitors, partners and participants who contributed to the success of these initiatives organised at the University of Guyana.
