The student associations (the law students' association (IUS FAIT NIX), the economics and management association (SEG) and the literature association (ASCLUG)), in partnership with the Zanmi Ròt Kozé association, invite you to the second SINÉDÉBA with the screening of the film "Guiana Blood".
P or this second edition of the Sinedeba, the spotlight will be on the Guyanese short film "Guiana Blood", on Thursday 23 February, from 5pm to 7pm, in Amphi C. Released in 2011 and directed by Cédric 'Lostyca' Simoneau, starring Anthony Hilaire and the artist Fléot, the 45-minute film paints an uncompromising portrait of the critical situation in French Guiana through the eyes of a young man seeking to protect himself and his family from the surrounding violence.
The session will be followed by a debate on the topical issue of the moment, "crime in French Guiana". Members of the public will be invited to discuss the topic with the speakers and ask their questions. The aim is to create a debate, discuss the causes of the rise in violence in French Guiana, give your opinion, and possibly find solutions and actions to put in place together.
Cinema to open the debate
The SINÉDÉBA concept consists of a screening followed by a debate on current affairs or everyday themes. It's an opportunity to exchange views and opinions with the audience. The films and documentaries screened are deliberately linked to current affairs, so as to stimulate debate and get the audience to react. The films shown are either made locally in French Guiana or abroad. This allows for different approaches and different levels of debate thanks to the confrontations with foreign news.
As a major centre of knowledge, of the democratisation of art and also of criticism, the University of Guyana is the ideal place for this type of action. In fact, the UG sees itself as a place of exchange and debate open to all, where criticism helps to advance debates and ideas.
