
The Crous support amateur art practices and organise annual art competitions around a common theme. For 2017-2018, the theme is "NUIT BLANCHE". All competitions are open to students enrolled in a French higher education establishment. A photocopy of the current year's student card must be attached to the application form.
Terms and conditions of the competition
Students can choose to create a work on the common theme or a work on the performing arts without a theme.
Competition with a common theme ("Nuit Blanche" for the 2017-2018 academic year):
New - deadline for entries: 16 May 2018. Write a story of no more than 2,500 words with few characters and a high point around which the narrative is built on the theme of "Nuit blanche".
Comic strips - deadline for entries: 16 May 2018. Produce a comic strip of 1 to 7 panels maximum in 21×29.7 cm format with or without text, portrait or landscape format, with use of one side only on the theme "Nuit blanche".
Photo - deadline for entries: 16 May 2018. Take a 21×30 cm black and white or colour photo, either digital or film, on the theme of "Nuit blanche" (sleepless night).
Short film - Application deadline: 16 May 2018. Make a film of no more than 5 minutes (including credits) with credits in French or subtitled or without dialogue on DV OR DVD on the theme of "Nuit blanche".
Performing arts competitions with no theme:
Music ("Musiques de RU" springboard) - Application deadline: 15 January 2018. The competition is open to all musical genres. The performance may be in a group (composed of at least half students) or solo. Each group or candidate must send a demo of between 3 and 6 tracks (on CD only).
Dance ("Danse avec ton Crous" competition) - Application deadline: 16 March 2018. The competition is open to all types of dance. Any student enrolled in a higher education institution may compete. The performance may be solo or in a group (maximum of 5 dancers, the majority of whom must be students - at least 3 for a group of 5). The participant(s) must send a performance lasting a maximum of 7 minutes on DVD filmed in a wide still shot.
Theatre - registration deadline: 6 april 2018. The competition is open to all types of theatrical form lasting from 45 minutes (minimum) to 1.5 hours (maximum.). The performance may be given by a soloist or a company of a maximum of eight participants (including actors, technicians and directors). Any student or company made up of a majority of students (at least four) enrolled in a higher education establishment may compete.
Initially, a regional jury selects the best entries (subject to a sufficient number of applications). This pre-selection is used to organise a national jury for each competition, which selects the best works of the year. It is possible to take part in all the competitions on offer. Each competition is accompanied by a number of regional and national awards.
The national prizes are :
1st national prize: €2,000
2nd prize: €1,000
3rd prize: €500
