Are you interested in tropical aquariology? Would you like to find out more about the freshwater environments of French Guiana and the tropical world in general? Come and join us in our project: "An aquarium on campus".
A project for enthusiasts and the curious
Aquariums are small, reconstituted ecosystems that create a special, relaxing atmosphere in our local environment, benefiting the whole community. Spending a few fleeting moments contemplating your aquarium is a great way to relieve everyday stress and get away from it all.
These days, owning an aquarium has become accessible to as many people as possible. So why not set up this project with a small group of enthusiasts to learn how to set up an aquarium on our campus at the University of Guyana and thus contribute to student life and the improvement of our local environment?
This project doesn't require any particular skills in tropical freshwater aquariology, just a bit of time, a desire to discover a new world, a desire to share your passion, a bit of work and a bit of time.
The aim of this project is to set up, manage and maintain an aquarium. To this end, we will:
- We will spend a day in the field to find out more about the freshwater environment (taking part in a fauna inventory) and collect specimens for the aquarium;
- You will be trained in the creation, management and maintenance of an aquarium;
- you will become the people in charge of this aquarium within the university.
