Un vaccinodrome à l’Université de Guyane

On Wednesday 15 September, a vaccinodrome was set up in the multi-purpose room of the G building (student life building) on the Troubiran campus. The event will be repeated on 6 October, again on the Troubiran campus, and on 29 September on the Bois Chaudat campus. It is open to all students, staff and their families.

M he start of the academic year at the University of Guyana has been postponed to 13 September due to the resurgence of cases of Covid-19 in the region. Against this backdrop, the UG has announced the deployment of vaccination centres on its two main campuses, Troubiran and Bois-Chaudat. These initiatives are of course open to students, staff and their families who so wish.

An academic year following the same pattern as last year

In 2020/21, the UG succeeded in providing optimal conditions for studies, by ensuring the maximum number of face-to-face teaching activities, while respecting barriers, with a capacity of 50% for large classes. This year, in consultation with the MESRI (Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation), the same scenario has been adopted for this new academic year. However, if the situation so requires, some courses may be switched to distance learning.

Reinforced prevention initiatives

It is compulsory to wear a mask whenever you are on campus, whether indoors or outdoors. Health relay students" (ERS) are mobilised for prevention and to remind people to take precautionary measures.

Last year, a number of screening campaigns took place on the various campuses and proved to be very useful in limiting the number of people infected within the schools. At the start of the new academic year, a self-testing campaign was launched for staff and students. Students were given a box of 5 antigenic self-tests, corresponding to 5 weeks of testing.
