About you?
My name is Francel, I'm 35. I've lived in French Guiana since the age of 12. I'm currently in charge of administration and finance at the I.U.T. de Kourou and the C.F.A. Universitaire. These two organisations are part of the University of French Guyana. They provide general training supplemented by technological and practical training leading to a diploma and professional experience at the end of the course.
Your business
Can you tell us about your job? What does it involve?
I've been in this job for over a year. As part of my job, I'm responsible for ensuring the proper administrative and financial management and, in general, the smooth running of the IUT and CFA. What I particularly enjoy is the multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted nature of my day-to-day tasks.
My main tasks include accounting, management control and reporting. But also budgeting and cash management. During my academic and professional career, I have acquired a number of skills that enable me to be versatile, particularly in human resources, administrative management and asset management.
What attracted you to this sector/field?
First of all, my professional and personal ambitions. I was looking for a multidisciplinary field. Because I want to become a model entrepreneur. Finally, my academic background and my taste for economics.
Your training courses
Tell us about your training courses
My background could be described as atypical. I trained in IT, then in law, but I also graduated from a business school. It was only after that that I came back to French Guyana to study economics. It was at the University of Guyana that I really became interested in this field.
I was admitted to the very first class of the Masters in Business and Market Economics (EEM) at the University of Guyana. The course is very demanding. Indeed, the number of hours is very high. However, the programme is comprehensive and highly diversified.
What did you enjoy during your training?
In addition to its richness, I appreciated this course for its supervision. I can't count the number of hours I spent talking to the teachers after class. Our teachers are always available to help us and are very kind to their students.
