About you?
Tell us about yourself
My name is Juno, I'm 22. I'm a local development officer. I support people who want to set up their own businesses. At the same time, I'm also a business owner. About a year ago, my brother and I set up a micro-business called Royal Spa.
Your business
Can you tell us about your job? What does it involve?
I wear two hats. I'm a local development officer and, for a few months now, I've been running my own business. My business revolves around personal well-being. The services we offer are rental of equipment such as jacuzzis at home. We also offer other complementary services to our customers, such as massages and a dinner service. I mainly look after the administrative side of the organisation. My brother, on the other hand, takes care of the logistics on the ground. He sets up, dismantles and maintains the equipment we make available during the hire period.
What do you like about your job?
What I like about running this business is being able to bring out new ideas and contribute to Royal Spa's development.
How do you juggle your two activities?
As far as managing my duties is concerned, remaining in the entrepreneurial sector, there are no real difficulties. Of course, this requires a sense of organisation so that I can give the best of myself on a daily basis to my two activities.
Your training courses
Tell us about your training. Which course did you follow?
Before joining the University of Guyana, I obtained my baccalauréat in Organisational Management. I then went on to do a DUT in Marketing Techniques at the University of Guyana. This two-year course enabled me to apply for the Professional Licence in Organisational Management offered at the UG.
Why did you choose these courses?
It was this course that led me to the world of entrepreneurship. In the future, I hope to be able to free up some time to pursue the MAE (Management and Business Administration). My various roles and the time I devote to my personal life don't allow me to concentrate on a new activity at the moment.
