The Centre Hospitalier de Cayenne, in collaboration with the University of Guyana, has launched a study into the diet and health of students. The Nutricampus survey, which took place between 9 April and 20 June 2022, shows that students lack access to a healthy and balanced diet. Its aim was to characterise the difficulties in accessing food and the living conditions of students in French Guiana.
The survey, which was carried out anonymously online, revealed that one in two students did not have access to a sufficient quantity of healthy, balanced food, which has consequences for their physical and mental health, as well as their academic performance.
The poster produced, which was exhibited at the Student Village on 6 October, presents the preliminary results of the survey. These results were presented to the university's Academic Council on 22 September 2022 and to the Regional Health Agency on 18 October 2022. It will be presented to the CROUS at the beginning of November 2022.
The ultimate aim of this study is to provide the information needed to put in place approaches tailored to students' needs. Following this feedback, actions will be identified with the various players involved to respond to the issues raised by the survey.
