The University of French Guiana, in partnership with the Collectivité Territoriale de Guyane, organised the 10th Student Forum on Professions and Careers on 17 November 2022. The event was held on the Troubiran campus.
L he role of the DOSIP, through its departments, in particular the BAIP (Bureau d'Aide à l'Insertion), is to welcome, inform and guide the various members of the university community. It contributes to the professional integration of the university's students, the inclusion of students with special needs and conducts surveys and events relating to professional integration and student life.
As part of these missions, the DOSIP organised the 10th edition of the "student forum on professions and careers" with the support of the Collectivité Territoriale de Guyane. The theme of this event was "Training and careers at the heart of development", demonstrating the desire to highlight the range of opportunities emerging in French Guiana in terms of professional training courses and careers for our future graduates.
These career days are organised every year to give students the opportunity to discuss and find out more about the courses available in French Guiana, and the different professions and careers of the future. To help them, nearly thirty professionals from all sectors responded to the invitation extended by the University of Guyana.
The day's events were organised around a series of trade workshops:
- Teaching and education,
- Energy, environment and biodiversity careers,
- Careers in space, telecommunications, networks and IT engineering,
- Tourism and culture,
- Professions in the financial and insurance sector,
- Law and human resources professions,
- Language and international professions,
- Health and social professions.
Through these workshops, students were able to question professionals from these different sectors on topics of interest to them. These discussions were set up to support the students' professional ambitions and help young Guyanese find a better career path.
Several hundred students visited the stands to meet the professionals and find out more about their companies. This was an opportunity to make initial contact through discussion or by taking part in job-dating activities.
Other activities have been appreciated by the university community, in particular the sophrology and yoga sessions, which help students to get to grips with student and working life.
