Recrutement d’assistants d’éducation en pré professionnalisation

The Rectorat de Guyane, in partnership with the Université de Guyane, is offering students entering the second year of their bachelor's degree in September 2023, whose career plan is to become a teacher, the opportunity to enrol in a scheme enabling them to combine a university course with practical training in a primary or secondary school.

L he service of a pre-professional education assistant (AED) is 8 hours a week (6 hours a week in the school + 2 hours preparing for the University Diploma (D.U) "teaching professions") throughout the school year. The time spent in schools is adapted to enable students to combine their university studies with their AED contract. Recruited students are supervised in the field by a tutor, who is responsible for guiding them as they gradually take on their teaching duties, and at university by a mentor, who is responsible for monitoring the smooth running of the programme and, in particular, ensuring that university training is properly combined with time spent in schools.

The tasks entrusted to the students recruited

  • In L2: observations, occasional assistance with sequences, participation in homework help, etc.
  • In L3: participation in personalised support, occasional assistance with teaching sequences under the responsibility of the class teacher, participation in homework help, etc.
  • In M1 MEEF: the student will be given partial responsibility for teaching sequences, in particular replacing teachers in the school.
  • In M2 MEEF: the student has total responsibility and is in charge of a class for 6 hours.

Conditions

  • Proof of enrolment in L2 at the start of the 2023-2024 academic year at the University of Guyana
  • Have acquired 60 ECTS credits as part of a bachelor's degree (as the requirement to acquire credits is assessed at the time the pre-professionalisation contract comes into force, the recruitment phases may therefore involve students who are in the process of obtaining credits enabling them to reach the 60 ECTS credit threshold).
  • The call for applications is open to all students, with or without grants. Pre-professional training contracts are for a period of three years (with the possibility of extending the contract for a further year, subject to the committee's approval, to M2).

The application is examined by a joint University/Rectorate teaching committee, which issues an opinion on motivation and aptitude. The application is then assessed to determine whether it is eligible for an employment contract. Once the application has been validated, the student receives a pre-professionalization contract and is hosted in a 1er or 2nd degree. The contract begins on 1 September 2023. This assignment to a school or college does not change the way in which the knowledge required to validate the diploma is tested, or the requirement to attend classes. The terms and conditions of employment are compatible with university training, and AEDs follow their entire training at university with a strict obligation to attend all lectures, tutorials and practical work.

What you need to know: you cannot choose where you will be posted, as the schools are not always located close to where you live.

Remuneration (net monthly salary)

  • L2: €1,100
  • L3: €1,400
  • M1: €1,440
  • M2: €1,440
This remuneration can be combined with a study grant based on social criteria

Special cases

  • Recruitment to the AED pre-professionalisation scheme is not open to students entering (or already in) L3 and M1.
  • International students: there is no nationality requirement to be recruited as a contract employee. However, students from outside the European Union must hold a residence permit authorising them to work in France or a student residence permit (in accordance with decree no. 86-83 of 17 January 1986 laying down general provisions applicable to non-tenured State employees taken for the application of article 7 of law no. 84-16 of 11 January 1984 laying down statutory provisions relating to the State civil service).
