Carrefour de l'alternance: strengthening links between universities and businesses

Par 19/05/2025- CFA-U3 min. de lecture

On Wednesday 7 May 2025, the University of Guyana hosted the second edition of the Carrefour de l'alternance. A morning of meetings between companies, teaching staff and students, to build practical bridges between education and the world of work.

The Carrefour de l'alternance 2025 was held on the Troubiran campus. Organised by the university CFA and supported by the University Professional Training Department (DFPU), the event had a clear objective: to promote dialogue between the university's work-linked training programmes and local economic players.

Around twenty companies attended. They were able to find out about the work-linked courses on offer, talk to the teachers and meet the students.

Stands hosted by the sectors

Each department had its own stand. Teachers and students presented their courses, shared their experiences and explained the skills they had acquired through work-linked training. This up-close-and-personal format allowed for simple, concrete and human exchanges.
Visitors were able to ask questions, find out about the specific features of the courses and gain a better understanding of the career opportunities available.

OPCO expertise at the service of projects

The funding bodies for work-linked training (OPCOs) were also present. Their presence provided valuable information on :

  • contractual terms and conditions,
  • the financial assistance available,
  • the support offered to companies.

Their discussions with the participants helped to remove a number of obstacles and clarify the conditions for implementing work-linked training.

Concrete prospects for collaboration

Some companies came to find out about the courses. Others expressed an immediate need for recruitment or partnership. A number of avenues for collaboration were explored during the discussions.

Feedback has been very positive, both from professionals and from teachers and students.

With this event, the University of French Guyana is confirming its commitment to high-quality work-linked training, in tune with the economic realities of the region.
The Carrefour de l'alternance is fully in line with this dynamic, creating lasting links between higher education, companies and young Guyanese talent.
