The Institut National Supérieur du Professorat et de l'Éducation (INSPE) in French Guiana will be opening registration for its preparatory courses for competitive teaching exams on 27 August 2025. In partnership with the Rectorat de la Guyane and the Université de Guyane, these degree courses are designed to train the future players in the education system locally: school teachers and Conseillers Principaux d'Éducation (CPE).
A dual path adapted to local realities
Launched for the 2026 competitive entrance exams, the DU Professeur des Ecoles (DU PE) and the DU Conseiller Principal d'Education (DU CPE) are part of the national reform of teacher training. These professionally-oriented university courses have a threefold objective:
-
Helping candidates to succeed in the written and oral exams; ;
-
Offer high-quality teaching support, provided by teacher-researchers, field instructors and education professionals; ;
-
Strengthen subject-specific, didactic and institutional skills, in a local context with specific educational challenges.
These courses are aimed at Licence 3 students, Bac+3 graduates, as well as teaching assistants, contract staff and adults undergoing retraining. The flexibility of the programmes means that skills can be built up gradually, with individual monitoring, mock exams, mock orals and a strong link with professional practice.
Focus on the DU for teachers of schools
The DU PE prepares students for the competitive examination for school teachers (Concours de Recrutement de Professeurs des Écoles - CRPE). The 120-hour course runs on Thursday afternoons from September 2025 to April 2026. It covers the competitive examination subjects (French, mathematics, science, history-geography, art, modern languages) and includes two oral modules focusing on preparation for the admission tests.
The programme also incorporates key issues such as secularism, equality between girls and boys, environmental education and the analysis of teaching sequences. It is a real springboard to the M2E (Teaching and Education Professions) Master's degree, for those who will continue their studies, with or without success in the competitive examination.
Focus on the DU Principal Education Advisor
The DU CPE is designed to prepare students for the competitive examination for Principal Education Advisers, a pivotal job in the running of schools. The 170-hour course includes theoretical teaching (school legislation, sociology of education, school philosophy), as well as a number of practical workshops: interviews, debates, presentations and oral simulations.
It focuses on the duties of the CPE, the responsibilities associated with school life, the management of educational teams and the prevention of inequalities. The aim is to train professionals capable of ensuring a school climate conducive to learning and working with the entire educational community.
