The Research Support Foundation of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP) and the University of Guyana (UG), in French Guyana, are launching a call for collaborative scientific research projects (applied research and transfer research) on the theme of «Sustainable Futures».
FAPESP has been funding research in Amazonia for decades. Universities in the State of São Paulo, often in partnership with institutions in the global North, are major players in scientific production in Amazonia. The University of Guyana, a university based in the Amazon, has placed the region at the heart of its development, research and training strategy.
The FAPESP and the UG have therefore confirmed their intention to fund joint research into the sustainable future of the Amazon, focusing on three priority areas:
- Global health, healthy and sustainable food
- Biodiversity and climate change
- Sustainable construction (Amazonian urban planning) and green transition
The integration of human and social sciences in a cross-disciplinary approach is strongly recommended and will be taken into account in the evaluation.
