In practical terms, how does the DIRVED support you?

Identifying and nurturing innovative projects

Often underestimated, research can contribute to many innovations that are beneficial to the economy, the environment and society. One of the missions of the DIRVED, in partnership with AIBSI's Sustainable Innovation Department, is to identify promising research projects and help them mature, so as to maximise their impact on the region's socio-economic development. Depending on the themes involved, the maturation stage can be carried out in close collaboration with our preferred partner the CIBIG.

It is in this context that, thanks to the AIBSI project, the University was able to contribute to the first edition of a competition run by CIBIG in partnership with the OFB, which enabled three innovative research projects to be identified. In addition to this competition, the DIRVED's technology transfer unit has set up a form for University researchers to use to identify projects that could be developed, allowing them to assess the level of maturity of their research project.

Intellectual protection (IP): patents, copyright

Securing the intellectual property of research results is a key stage in the process of commercialising research. Protecting intellectual property makes it possible to :

• Making the most of creativity and innovation ;
• Prohibit third parties from benefiting from investments made without our authorisation; ;
• Generate profits through licensing; ;
• Attracting external investors and partners; ;
• Creating value: IP rights are valuable assets

It is in this context that the University intends to build up a portfolio of intellectual property titles and in September 2024 filed its second patent application detected by the SID.

Helping researchers become entrepreneurs

At the DIRVED, we support researchers and doctoral students because sometimes all it takes is one good idea at the right time or one innovation to make you stand out from the crowd. We help you to identify the innovative aspects of your research and work with you to assess its potential for development. It can also involve technology transfer or a partnership with a company that will exploit your results and make them work for you.

Helping researchers become entrepreneurs

One of our main missions at the DIRVED is to encourage you to become an entrepreneur and to develop and exploit your innovative research by creating university start-ups (spin-offs).

You can call on us in the pre-incubation phase, i.e. before setting up your company.
You can already have set up your company and ask us to help you mature your project if, and only if, your company is based on the fruit of your university research.
We can support you from pre-incubation to final commercialisation We are supporting several spin-offs at different stages (2 created, and 2 in incubation).
