Finale régionale du concours Ma Thèse en 180 Secondes – édition 2022

The Guiana regional final of the My Thesis in 180 Seconds competition will take place on Friday 18 March 2022 at 2.30pm at ENCRE.

S ix candidates will take to the stage in the Edmond Antoine-Edouard auditorium at ENCRE. Their challenge is to present their research work in front of a panel of judges and a diverse, lay audience. They will have 3 minutes, and not one minute more, to present their thesis topic as clearly and concisely as possible. To do this, they will be helped by a slide projection and their talent as orators. Will they be able to convince you?

Six candidates, two places

Two prizes from the jury and a prize from internet users and the public will be awarded at the local final. Six doctoral candidates are in the running for the 2022 competition. Find out more about them:

Agathe Alaïs
Discipline: Educational Sciences
Dissertation topic: Top-level sport: a profound education of the body and mind that transcends all socio-cultural distinctions.

Alassane Kone
Subject: Computer Science and Applications
Thesis topic: Extraction and control using cellular automata and multi-agent systems for spatio-temporal dynamics. Application to desertification.

Daniela Krebber
Discipline: Environmental and population biology, ecology
Thesis topic: How does biodiversity influence the response of tropical forests to climatic factors and human disturbance?

Lyvia Mazarin
Discipline: Sociology, demography
Thesis topic: Institutions, vulnerability and resilience. The case of asylum seekers in French Guyana, Psycho-sociological effects and human consequences of an experimental legal system.

Paul-Emile Augusseau
Discipline: Environmental and population biology, ecology
Thesis topic: Analysis of sea-mangrove coastline fluctuations for coastal vulnerability and carbon sequestration assessments. Multi-scale, multi-decadal modelling approach to the influence of hydro-sedimentary and climatic processes in French Guiana.

Severin Tchakoute
Discipline: Educational Sciences
Thesis topic: The use of digital tablets in secondary education in West Guyana: Analysis, assessment and outlook. The case of Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni.

This year, the local final will take place in a hybrid format. Members of the public will be able to attend the doctoral students' presentations at ENCRE (subject to availability), or via Facebook live from the Université de Guyane and our partner Guyane la 1ere. Which of the finalists will convince you? You too can be a judge at this event by taking part in the "People's Choice Award" vote. Express your preference by visiting the dedicated platform. To vote for the candidate of your choice, go to the link below and fill in the information requested. You will receive confirmation of your registration by e-mail on 17 March 2022. Remember to check your spam. You will be able to vote during the event, after the 6 candidates have passed through.
