Retour sur les doctoriales 2022

On 16 and 17 June 2022, the Doctoriales de l'Université de Guyane were held in Amphi A on the Troubiran Campus. Seventeen doctoral students presented their dissertations on themes rooted in the concerns and challenges of the Amazon region. The Association des docteur(e)s et doctorant(e)s de Guyane "Les Layons de la Recherche" has put together a booklet retracing the event, with photos and a summary of their subject.

À  The University of Guyana has honoured its doctoral students at this year's Doctoriales. The Doctoral School of the University of Guyana, in collaboration with the association Les Layons de la Recherche, wanted to highlight the research work of doctoral students. The event took place in amphitheatre A on the Troubiran campus in Cayenne. As part of the doctoriales 2022, the university's doctoral students were able to share the progress of their research with a wide audience. Often kept to themselves, this event gives researchers the opportunity to present their research themes to the general public and to the various laboratories.

This event contributes to the training of young researchers, whose task is to present their subject of study to a wide audience of novices and specialists, within a set timeframe. The doctoral student must demonstrate real intellectual gymnastics and ingenuity to produce and popularise a scientific communication, communicating the data collected according to a rigorous methodology, so that the whole is accessible, pleasant and understandable by all. Far from using purely "academic" language, the doctoriales 2022 were a time for exchange and, above all, a time when everyone was able to understand the challenges of university research in French Guyana. In this sense, the doctoriales were an opportunity for doctoral students to present the value of their research for French Guiana and, more broadly, for the Amazon region.

For this 2022 edition, the seventeen doctoral students presented their thesis work around two multidisciplinary themes: "Knowledge, understanding and innovation" and "Education and adaptation". The human and social sciences, the life sciences and the technological sciences all demonstrated that there are many challenges to be met, and that researchers need to pay particular attention to them.
