On Thursday 14 September 2023, Laurent LINGUET, President of the University of French Guiana, and Thara GOVINDIN, President of MEDEF Guyane, signed an agreement linking their two establishments.
Through this new partnership agreement, the University of Guyana and MEDEF Guyane are expressing their shared desire to establish a special link between science and society. The aim of intensifying their interaction is to increase the exchange of information in key areas such as initial and continuing training, research and innovation. This partnership will lead the two institutions to develop a shared approach to the training of the future and to provide expertise to businesses, particularly in the field of research and development.
Creating a bridge with the business world
Because young people represent the future of the region, it is essential to prepare them to enter the world of business. This is what both parties are aiming to achieve through this partnership: to create a bridge between the business world and the academic world. The aim is to develop an economic and entrepreneurial culture among students at the University of Guyana, with the support of local business leaders. The latter will be able to pass on the keys needed to facilitate their integration into the world of work: people skills, know-how and the technical knowledge expected by companies. Immersion will also be offered through work placements or sandwich courses.
The partnership also aims to boost the competitiveness of businesses by making available the scientific skills of lecturers and researchers from the University of Guyana to support them in their innovation projects.
