Élaboration du schéma directeur de la vie étudiante

The University of Guyana is taking a genuine approach to improving the living and studying conditions of its students. For this reason, it has begun to draw up a master plan for student life. This roadmap will present the results of joint discussions with all those involved in improving the well-being of the student population.

L he Student Life Master Plan (SDVE) sets out the major common objectives of student life policy for a period of around four years. It is drawn up at regional level and in conjunction with all university stakeholders and partners: staff, students, CROUS, local authorities and other players involved in student life. Indeed, it is essential that this strategy stems from the commitment of all stakeholders in order to achieve a coherent, complementary policy that incorporates the specific characteristics of the region. The SDVE will present the measures that will be taken and the concrete actions that will be deployed to meet the needs identified and improve the quality of student life in French Guyana.

Student well-being: an essential component of success

Student well-being is an essential component of academic success. The SDVE reflects the recognition of student life as a factor in the success and development of students. The master plan will focus on four major areas: community life and civic involvement, health and well-being, social support, housing and transport, and sport and culture.

Co-construction with the participation of everyone

There will be several stages in the development of the SDVE. During the month of October, thematic focus groups will be held on both campuses with students and members of staff so that they can express their opinions and points of view on a variety of subjects. These focus groups will give rise to discussions between the various members of the group. In November, a seminar bringing together institutional players and the university community will provide an opportunity to reflect collectively on the levers and solutions for improving the living conditions of students at the University of Guyana.
