
On 2 October 2025, the University of Guyana welcomed author Nolywé Delannon for a literary discussion on her book “Guyane spatiale, carnavale et décoloniale”.

On Thursday 2 October 2025, the University of Guyana organised a literary event for students and Nolywé Delannon. The author presented her book Space, carnival and decolonial Guyana, which deals with identity, memory and colonial legacies. Afterwards, a guided practice session gave the students an opportunity for free discussion. They discussed certain extracts, shared their impressions and asked questions. This master class encouraged a lively dialogue between young readers and the author.
Nolywé Delannon: a committed Guyanese voice
Nolywé Delannon was born and raised in French Guiana. Today, she is an associate professor at Laval University in Quebec. Her career is a perfect illustration of the strong link between French Guiana and the academic world. In her first book, she offers a bold, decolonial vision of the popular history of French Guiana.
Her style blends humour, criticism and commitment. Thanks to this approach, she is giving a new voice to Guyanese literature.

This literary event at the University of Guyana was made possible by the Pôle des Actions de Valorisation et d'Education (PAVE). The event was organised at the instigation of Audrey Debibakas, vice-president for culture.
