The year 2024 marked a turning point for the International, Research, Development and Doctoral Studies Department (DIRVED) and AIBSI, with an exceptional dynamic driven by innovative projects, strengthened collaborations and landmark events.
Major advances at DIRVED
The DIRVED has continued its commitment to supporting research and innovation projects at the University of Guyana. With 15 projects submitted (including 12 ERDF, 2 ANR and 1 Horizon Europe), researchers have had 6 projects selected, reinforcing the credibility and impact of local initiatives, thanks to the strategic support provided by the DIRVED.
Internationally, the International Relations Office (BRI) has signed strategic agreements with Guyana and Canada, opening up new prospects for research and academic exchange. The increase in incoming mobility also reflects the growing international influence of the University of Guyana.
AIBSI: Initiatives that make an impact
The AIBSI programme was at the heart of several major events, confirming its role as a key player in innovation and sustainable development:
- The first Carbet Business Dating (CBD) eventbringing together scientists and socio-economic players to encourage collaboration.
- A second CBD, dedicated to Sustainable Food Daywhich highlighted innovative projects based on the transformation of local resources.
- The Big'Inn competition, organised in partnership with CIBIG and the OFB, promoting the entrepreneurial spirit in French Guiana.
- My thesis in 180 secondswhere doctoral students brilliantly explained their research.
In addition, the DIRVED's hosting of the CISAM delegation has strengthened international scientific exchanges, underlining the University's openness to the world.
Towards an ambitious strategy for 2025
These actions are part of a strategic vision that aims to consolidate what has been achieved and raise the profile of researchers. At the same time, significant efforts have been made to support teams through innovative training programmes, such as the communications and marketing workshop held at the end of 2024.
2024 will have been a year of innovation and collaboration. With a rich balance sheet and ambitious prospects, the DIRVED and AIBSI are looking resolutely towards 2025 to continue to work in the service of research and innovation in French Guyana.
