The 2026–2027 academic year at the University of French Guiana begins on 2 September at the Cayenne and Kourou campuses. An institutional welcome, support services, events, health services and induction activities will help students prepare for the year ahead and find out about the full programme.

Wednesday 2 September 2026 — Orientation and induction day at the Cayenne campus

8.00 am to 12.00 pm — Institutional welcome in Amphitheatre A
The day begins in Amphitheatre A with an immersive video presentation of student services, academic affairs and the teaching and research departments (DFR), followed by a welcome address from the university’s governing bodies, the student vice-president and testimonials from former students, as well as a guided tour of the campus

  • From 8 am to 9 am: Group 1 — DFR Science & Technology / Health.
  • From 9 am to 10 am: Group 2 — DFR in Law and Economics.
  • From 10.00 am to 11.00 am: Group 3 — Kourou University of Technology & Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
  • From 11.00 am to 12.00 pm: Group 4 — INSPE & IRDTS.

Student guides (accessible via QR code) and back-to-school goodies will be handed out on this occasion.

8.00 am to 2.00 pm — Student village on the university terrace
From 9am, come and experience the atmosphere on campus: entertainment and student society stalls, practical information on student life, and the chance to chat with our institutional partners (DNUM, CRL, CLOUS, Student Services, etc.). Music, a friendly atmosphere and surprises are all on the programme!

10.00–14.00 — Welcome activities on the forecourt of Buildings C to G
Express yourself, have fun, connect:

  • Drums and dance.
  • University of French Guiana Discovery Quiz.
  • Board games and bingo.
  • Resolutions Wall.
  • Sporting challenges and fun activities.

10.00–12.00 — Health and wellbeing workshops in Building G
Because a successful start to the new school year begins with you, our professionals offer workshops on coaching and self-esteem, sophrology and sleep yoga.

12 noon to 2 pm — Lunch at the university canteen
Make yourself comfortable, relax… a great atmosphere guaranteed! A meal is available at a special rate for students and partners.

Thursday 3 September 2026 — Official start of term across all departments

  • Official welcome for students to the DFRs and the various departments.
  • Detailed timetables for each course will be published shortly in the back-to-school schedule.
  • 8.00 am to 4.00 pm — Start of term and welcome at the Bois Chaudat campus of the Kourou IUT
    • From 8 am to 11 am: Welcoming new arrivals and the start of the academic year.
    • From 2 pm to 4 pm: time of unity.

Thursday 10 September 2026 — Induction morning at the Cayenne University of Technology (IUT)

  • From 9.30 am to 10.30 am: an introduction to student services through an engaging video showcasing all the resources available.
  • From 10.30 am to 1 pm: an open forum, exhibition stands, discussions and meetings with institutional partners.

The student guide and welcome booklet will help students as they settle in at the start of the academic year. These resources bring together useful information on the procedures to follow, support services and campus life.

The 2026–2027 academic year at the University of French Guiana will begin with a full day of orientation in Cayenne, ahead of the official start of term at the various faculties and the events scheduled in Kourou and at the Cayenne University Institute of Technology (IUT). When does the 2026–2027 academic year begin at the University of French Guiana?

What time should students arrive at Lecture Theatre A?
Timetables vary depending on the training group. The four time slots are spread between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm for the DFRs, the Health department, the Kourou IUT, the INSPE and the IRDTS.

What activities are planned for the induction day in Cayenne?
Students will be able to take part in drumming and dancing activities, a quiz, board games, bingo and sporting challenges. Health and wellbeing workshops will also be on offer.

When does the new academic year start at the Kourou IUT?
The Kourou University Institute of Technology (IUT) will welcome students on Thursday 3 September 2026 at the Bois Chaudat campus. The institutional welcome will take place from 8.00 am to 11.00 am, followed by a team-building session from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

When will the induction morning take place at the Cayenne IUT?
The induction morning will take place on Thursday 10 September 2026. The presentation of services will begin at 9.30 am, after which the forum and stands will remain open until 1 pm.
