Objectives

The aim of the University Bachelor of Technology (BUT GEII) is to train middle managers capable of setting up and managing electrical installations, designing, producing, programming and maintaining fixed or on-board electronic boards (automotive, avionics, robotics, etc.), and automating and controlling industrial processes. Graduates will also be able to manage and maintain industrial computer networks, and analyse and develop information processing and transmission systems.

In six semesters, the aim of the BUT GEII is to train managers with strong professional skills and a broad technological culture, who are also familiar with the cross-disciplinary aspects of the profession, such as team and project management.

The aim of the Electricity and Energy Management (ÉMÉ) programme is to enable students to manage teams of technicians and work in collaboration with engineers in the design, testing and implementation phases, to monitor the production of electrical energy conversion systems and to participate in maintenance processes. This course will enable graduates to work in sectors linked to the production and distribution of electrical energy, industrial electrical installation, urban and rail transport, electrified vehicles, the navy, aeronautics and space, the dependability of industrial systems, electromechanical converters and power electronics, electrical energy storage, industrial or humanoid robots, drones, renewable energies and energy efficiency.

With the Electricity and Energy Management pathway, students will be taking part in the digital transformation of businesses and the energy transition to the world of tomorrow (industry of the future, smart grid, smart city)!

Subject-specific skills

Competency 1: Design the GEII part of a system. By adopting a holistic approach integrating technological innovations in line with the company's strategy to meet customer needs. By producing all the necessary documents for the customer and the various service providers. By communicating appropriately with the various players before and during the design phase.

Skill 2: Checks the GEII part of a system. Taking account of specific material, regulatory and contextual requirements. By implementing a test and evaluation plan, with a view to qualitative and corrective analysis. Taking into account the company's economic, environmental and regulatory issues.

Skill 3: Maintaining a system in operational condition. By adopting proactive communication with the various stakeholders. By adopting a holistic approach integrating new technologies and digital transformation

Skill 4: Installs all or part of an energy production, conversion and management system.  Guaranteeing upstream, downstream and cross-functional customer support as part of a quality approach. By complying with standards and regulatory constraints relating to power and lighting, including in an international context.

Recruitment level : Bac (access 1era year) and Bac+2 (access 2th or 3th year)

Accessible in :  initial training (1era and 2th years), sandwich courses (3th year).

Training required :
Hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Technological baccalaureates (STI2D etc)
  • General baccalaureates
  • Admission is possible through validation of prior learning (VAE) or validation of professional and personal experience (VAPP).

Admission requirements :
Applicants are selected on the basis of their application file, which takes into account their letter of motivation, first and final year report cards, assessments by the head of school and/or main teachers, and the motivations expressed by the applicants themselves, in order to assess their ability to acquire a real commercial profile. The examination of the candidates' files is completed by a motivational interview, and a test in basic mathematics and electronics is compulsory.

Semester 6

Internship

Two work placements, totalling over 22 weeks, are key elements of the course, which prepares students to work independently.

At the end of 2th year (BUT2 - semester 4), an initial compulsory 8-week work placement enables students to develop one or more of the skills covered by the B.U.T. within a company.

An end-of-course work placement (BUT 3 - semester 6) consolidates the acquisition of one or more of the B.U.T. skills within a company.

During these two periods, each student is supervised by a company work placement supervisor and is monitored by a teaching supervisor (educational tutor). During the work placement, a report is written and presented to a panel of judges.
