Objectives
The Networks & Telecommunications degree - Cybersecurity pathway is a diploma focusing on cybersecurity in digital professions. It prepares students for the full range of jobs related to information systems security, from installing security equipment to monitoring it.
The Cybersecurity R&T graduate is capable of administering a secure information system, supervising it and detecting and countering computer attacks.
This diploma trains senior technicians specialising in the following areas:
- IT networks: internet, operators, internet of things, etc.
- Telecommunications: transmissions, telephony, etc.
- IT: programming, web applications, etc.
Target skills
The course is structured into 5 skill blocks. 3 skill blocks make up the core of the speciality:
- Administering networks and the Internet
- Connecting businesses and users
- Creating IT tools and applications for R&T
These skills are developed in the first year and throughout the three years of the BUT.
2 additional skill blocks make up the Cybersecurity pathway:
- Managing a secure information system
- Monitoring a secure information system
These skills begin in the second year.
Admission
Recruitment level : Bac (access 1re year) and Bac+2 (access 2e year)
Accessible in : initial training (1re year), sandwich course (2e and 3e years).
Training required :
To enrol in BUT1
Hold one of the following qualifications:
- General baccalaureates: students who have taken the following special subjects or options: "Mathematics"; "Physics - Chemistry"; "Engineering Sciences"; "Numeracy and Computer Sciences"; "Economic and Social Sciences".
- Technological baccalauréats: STIDD-SIN
- Reorientation in higher education: L1 (scientific field), preparatory classes
- Admission is possible through validation of prior learning (VAE) or validation of professional and personal experience (VAPP).
Entry to BUT2 (initial training or sandwich course) : BUT1 R&T or BTS speciality: SIO, IRIS
Entering BUT3 (initial or sandwich training) : BUT2 R&T
Examination on the basis of a portfolio, depending on the specialities studied and the number of places available.
Admission requirements :
Applications are selected on the basis of their academic record and are supplemented by a motivational interview. The criteria taken into account are :
- The covering letter
- Report cards from Première and Terminale
- Assessments by the head teacher and/or main teachers
- The motivations expressed by candidates during the interview.

GOAL1 Online application on : www.parcoursup.fr
- Deadline for applications (mid-January to mid-March)
- Selection of applications and interview (mid-May)
- Results of the Admissions Committee (end of May)
- Administrative registration after bac results (early July)
- Courses start at the beginning of September
GOALS2 and 3 : Application to be submitted on the University of Guyana's e-candidat platform.
Candidates may also submit an unsolicited application outside the higher education course to the Head of the R&T Department at the Kourou IUT.
Programme
- Teaching is carried out by teachers, researchers and industry professionals.
- The BUT R&T course is divided into six semesters over three years. A significant proportion of the 2,000 hours of teaching will be in the form of practical work or tutorials, enabling the theoretical knowledge acquired in lectures to be applied. The skills taught are then put into practice through projects, for a total of 600 hours.
- The course includes 6 months' work experience in a company to give students an insight into the professional world.
- Assessment is based on continuous assessment in all subjects. European credits (ECTS) can be used for mobility throughout Europe.
- Passing of certifications recognised in companies: TOEIC in English, two CISCO and STORMSHIELD network certifications
BUT R&T's training focuses on three main areas of specialisation:
- Networks, internet and IT security Local (Ethernet), wide area (ADSL, fibre optics, satellites, etc.), wireless (wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc.) and mobile (4G, 5G, etc.) networks.
- Network services Web, e-mail, social networks, cloud, telephony, videoconferencing and Internet television, information systems security, data backup, virtualisation, etc.
- Computing and programming Algorithms, procedural and object-oriented programming (C, C++ and Java languages)
- Web programming (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, databases)
- Telecommunications Fibre optics and antennas / Digital transmission and filtering
