Programme
The GOALs generally combine theoretical teaching, practical teaching, work experience, periods of training in a professional environment and work placements.
The course takes place on the UG campus in Cayenne. It is spread over 6 semesters, i.e. two semesters per year. The average annual course load is 33 hours per week. The 3 years comprise 1800 hours of training over 6 semesters, 600 hours of tutored projects and 22 to 26 weeks of work experience.
The first two years of the Social and Socio-cultural Animation BUT are taught as initial training. In the final year (BUT 3), students can opt for an apprenticeship. They are organised into teaching units, grouping together resources and SAEs (learning and assessment situations). The course attaches great importance to teamwork and collaboration between students. Particular attention is therefore paid to group work. The course enables students to acquire a variety of skills, based on multidisciplinary teaching, including law, political science, sociology, anthropology, economics, management, languages and general culture, visual arts, psychology, etc.
Students are required to design and implement 5 SAEs, the aim of which is to enable them to encounter the field from a variety of angles, in an autonomous manner. The course is validated by final examinations and continuous assessment.
Internship
In 1era year, a 5-week work placement is compulsory. In 2th year, there are 9 weeks of work experience. During the 3th year, students choose either a sandwich course or a work placement. They spend a total of 17 weeks on placement or in the workplace.
Each student is supervised by a work placement supervisor from the organisation hosting the placement or temporarily hiring the student under an apprenticeship contract. They are also supervised by a teaching supervisor. Students are required to write a report on their work experience and defend it in front of a panel of judges.
