Call for thesis topics 2026/2027 - Doctoral School of the University of Guyana

The University of Guyana launches its «Call for thesis topics 2026» as part of its policy to support doctoral research. This call is aimed at laboratories wishing to propose thesis topics in line with the scientific priorities of French Guiana.

Objectives of the call for projects

The aim of this call for proposals is to strengthen the local roots of research carried out in French Guiana, by supporting thesis projects led by research units research. The aim is to encourage the emergence of innovative, structuring subjects that fit in with the major research themes supported by the’University.

The scheme also aims to guarantee high-quality supervision for doctoral students and to promote scientific skills locally, nationally and internationally.

The Doctoral School of the University of Guyana proposes, for the academic year 2026, the following thesis subjects validated by the ED Council.

Thesis topic no. 1: Chemical and biological variability of different Awaras (Astrocaryum vulgare) from French Guiana with a view to their use in the agri-food industry.

Dissertation Topic 1: Morphodynamics of an estuarine sandy beach under the forcing of a mud bank: the case of Awala-Yalimapo beach in French Guiana.

Dissertation topic no. 2: Fish MAW - Transnational network Ethnography to understand governance behind serial depletion.

Dissertation topic no. 3: Ethnoecology of the Ndjka (Kotica-Sama), or how relationships with nature shape social relationships in a binational Businenge community.

Thesis topic no. 4: Co-evolution of flight and colour patterns in Ithomiini butterflies.

Thesis topic no. 3: Mathematical modelling and its application to forest management: optimal control, viability and missing data.

Dissertation topic no. 3: The unity of the civil service statute put to the test by the realities of overseas France: the example of health protection for civil servants.

  • Applications must be submitted between Monday 11 May and Thursday 4 June 2026 at 11.59pm
  • Finally, the hearing of the candidates before the ED's select committee will take place on Thursday 11 June 2026
