On 3 December, AIBSI and DIRVED invited researchers from the University of French Guiana to discover CIBIG's experimental kitchen. This unique space, dedicated to innovation in food and soft chemistry, opens up new prospects for applied research and entrepreneurial projects in French Guiana.
Located on the Trou Biran Campus in Cayenne, the Centre d'Ingénierie Bio-Inspirée de Guyane (CIBIG) is an initiative supported by Guyane Développement Innovation (GDI). Its aim is to support research and local entrepreneurship through shared infrastructure.
Among its flagship facilities, the experimental kitchen occupies a central place. This space, divided into two complementary sections - one dedicated to food, the other to soft chemistry - is equipped with extractor hoods and high-performance tools. Equipment includes a distiller, a centrifuge and professional equipment for testing, creating and producing.
On 3 December, the AIBSI (Amazonian Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainable Innovation) and the DIRVED (Direction de la Recherche et de la Valorisation des Études Doctorales) organised an exclusive visit to this space. Researchers from the University of Guyana were able to explore the potential of this kitchen for their scientific work and innovative projects.
A popular area for researchers
The participants expressed great enthusiasm about the opportunities offered by this space. The experimental kitchen could become a major asset for start-ups, spin-offs and doctoral work in French Guyana. By facilitating access to modern infrastructure, CIBIG is strengthening the link between academic research and practical innovation.
Given the enthusiasm generated by this visit, the AIBSI and the DIRVED plan to organise similar meetings on a regular basis. These initiatives encourage exchanges between researchers, infrastructures and project leaders, contributing to the development of sustainable local innovation.
