Objectives
The History degree includes general courses covering all the contemporary, modern, medieval and ancient historical periods, as well as courses in physical and human geography, enabling students to reach the level required for the secondary teaching examinations. The unique 'teaching careers' pathway offered in the history major is designed to prepare students more specifically for further study at INSPE. However, the history degree also aims to study the history of the Americas and the Guiana Shield, enabling students to gain a better understanding of the past and present of Guianese society, and possibly preparing them for careers in heritage conservation and development.

- A high level of historical knowledge of all periods from antiquity to the present day
- A good level of geographical, archaeological and anthropological knowledge
- Good knowledge of the specific historical, geographical, archaeological and anthropological features of the Guiana Shield, Amazonia and the Americas
- A high level of skill in analysing and synthesising historical, geographical, archaeological and anthropological issues
- High level of competence in the use of databases relevant to history and the social sciences
Cross-disciplinary skills
- Level C1 in French, level B2 in English, level B2 in a second foreign language
- Intermediate skills in statistical data processing
- Analysis of multifactorial problems
- Processing and summarising information of varying quality and origin
- Ability to present to a specialist audience (with and without the support of digital media)

Training required :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a good level, especially in French, English and subjects in the social sciences and humanities.
Admission requirements :
Individual acceptance of the application by the Parcoursup committee, the Campus France committee or the committee responsible for history admissions outside Campus France.Registration for admission to L1: Pre-registration is compulsory on Parcoursup for applicants enrolled in French secondary education.
