Objectives

Cooperation and Commercial Relations in the Americas programme
To meet the training needs of young people and the requirements of Guyanese companies. This course aims to train trilingual professionals capable of working in the export-import departments of SMEs and SMIs.

Cooperation and Cultural Relations in the Americas programme
To meet the needs of local authorities and the demand for effective professional integration in Guyana, South America and the Caribbean. This course will train operators capable of setting up innovative cultural projects, and supporting local elected representatives in their desire to forge closer links with the countries of South America and the Caribbean. This degree also prepares students to enter the LSH department's Interculturality Masters.

Admission

Recruitment level :
The course is open to anyone with a general Baccalauréat or DAEU. Holders of a vocational Baccalauréat may be admitted under certain conditions after examination of their application.

Accessible in : initial training.

Training required :
To have followed courses in English and Portuguese as a foreign language in lower and upper secondary schools.

Conditions of admission :
The LEA degree is best suited to students with a general baccalaureate (L, ES or S) and a solid grounding in English and Portuguese.

Programme

This BA in English/Portuguese for Cooperation and Cultural and Commercial Relations in the Americas. The course will consist of a common core in L1 and L2, and from L3 onwards students will opt to specialise in either Cultural Cooperation or Business Cooperation. Over the 6 semesters, the emphasis will be on professional subjects:

Semester 1
Generalist will be taught as part of the core curriculum of the English degree (English grammar, French grammar, OIM, Voltaire Project).

Semester 2
Introduction of vocational modules: Introduction to law and economics; introduction of a module devoted to developing a personal career plan.

Semester 3
Introduction to the world of business and accounting; further development of personal career plans. From this semester onwards, students will have the opportunity to take part in an Erasmus exchange semester.

Semester 4
Reinforcement of technical modules and vocational training courses with a 4-week work placement.

Semester 5
Specialisation in business or culture.

Semester 6
This semester is devoted to the international work placement.

At the end of this degree, students should have a good command of English and Portuguese (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR), in order to carry out all professional tasks in a trilingual manner. Have a global knowledge of the English- and Portuguese-speaking world and be able to adapt their socio-professional activities to take account of intercultural factors.
